But don’t get too close when I’m forced to a halt, my knee hitting a low table. I would have fallen on top if it weren’t for my hands.
“Hey!” Chase complains. “Slowly.”
I look up to get my hair out of the way, watching him turn to go into the kitchen. It takes me a lot to straighten, only wanting to get down and rest, my eyes somehow still fixed on his figure, on his hands going up to take off the hoodie.
He’s using a black sleeveless shirt underneath, his muscles making it seem almost small, but what I see the most… are the many scars that pop up from under it.
I look away, at the black stone border of the chimney that gets a few steps out of the wall, occupying the center of it. The black stones have a different pattern than the gray stones and I follow them while finishing to round the circular table to be in front of the chimney, to keep myself distracted and overcome the cold faster. Though I feel a bit warm already.
“Would you like to take a hot bath? To make up for the walk and avoid you catching a cold…”
